MySpace, etc.,, Safelist, Traffic Exchanges and such are TOOLS to help you make more money. First, you need something TO sell.
Why
Affiliate Programs?
Simple. The
quickest way to start making money online is with Affiliate Programs.
All you need is an Affiliate Link to a product and someplace to advertise it. Heck, you don't even need a website to make money this way, though I highly recommend you get your own website. It makes your life easier and it gives people a way to find you and what you have to offer. It can bring traffic to your products and make sales you otherwise wouldn't get. I'm sure you've heard of making money while you sleep, well, that's how, from your own website. It's always working no matter where or what you are doing. Sleeping, getting married or getting drunk at the bar, you get the point. It's your 24 hours a day, 7 days a week servant.
Your own website = MORE MONEY. For starters, this isn't talked about a lot, but instead of simply sending people straight to some affiliate link, put up a 'Lead Capture Page' (or Squeeze Page as some call it) on your website, send them to that page to 'sign up' through your autoresponder code to get more information on the product you are selling. In that way, you are building your list to be able to contact them in the future. Otherwise, they go right to the affiliate product and end up on someone else's list, gone to you forever.
Your own list of subscribers is your most important business asset, always be working toward building your list. You want people to double opt-in to your autoresponders, and stay away from purchased list at all cost. Those that opt-in voluntarily stay on your list longer and are more apt to purchase from you. Purchased list all to often result in spam complaints against you. An opt-in list gives you proof they requested the information.
I won't go into details of autoresponders here other than to say use a quality service, such as AWeber or my second choice Getresponse They cost more, true enough, but using an autoresponder set up on a shared hosting account (your website) sets you up for getting your e-mail address (ISP) 'Blacklisted' and your messages won't get delivered. Companies like the 2 mentioned above work with the major ISP's to prevent that. See, your website gets blacklisted as a spammer for sending out too many e-mails. Sad, but true.

First of all, you need a way to get paid. You also need a way to be able to SELL products. And most affiliate products work through either Paypal or Clickbank as a means to pay you your commissions. Both are free to join and to obtain an affiliate link you can use for getting paid from your promotions.

So, as you just saw, there is no lack of products or places to get them for you to sell as an affiliate.
All you need to do is research then match products that fit your website theme, or particular niche.
Take it slow and simple. Get into profit before moving on to the next program. Believe it or not, that is how you come out ahead.
Resell Rights Products
These are digital products
made up of many things including e-books, software, videos, audios, etc., and are held on your website for instant download once a customer has ordered the product through your sales page. Whereas affiliate products are held on someone elses website and you are just sending visitors to their sales and download pages. One advantage of Resell Rights Products are many of them come already pre-packaged with the Sales page, all the Graphics you need and a Download page plus the product.
The great thing about
Resell Rights Products are that You earn 100% of the sales you make instead of the 75%, 50% or less that you get with affiliate programs. They also allow you to "upsell" products and include "backend" product offers on your download pages that you don't get to take advantage of with affiliate programs.
Other advantages over affiliate programs are being able to include One Time Offers (OTO's) which could include another similar product, free gifts if they purchase by a certain time or any number of other incentives ruled only by your imagination. The use of Time Limited offers that give potential purchasers an 'X' amount of time to buy before you stop selling which works very well if your Product can be lowered in price from it's normal selling cost.
By utilizing and setting up
Resell Rights Products on your own website or blog, you can include a form for people to sign up to your list say through your own newsletter/ezine. Building your own list of subscribers/clients is the most important part of your business. You should try to do something everyday that will help increase the size of your list. People will unsubscribe from you, that's a given, just don't get upset over that fact. As long as you continue your list building efforts you'll replace those that do leave many times over.
Before using any Resell Rights Product be absolutly positive about what your Reseller Agreement tells you on how you can use the files and any limitations placed on the product.
Normally you'll get that information in a text file along with the product detailing your Distribution Rights.
Where do you get these products to resell? Start with checking all the JV Giveaways that are free to join. I keep an updated list of them on this page,

the Distribution Rights to the product indicate you can freely give it away, you'd be better off using it as a 'freebie' download off your website to get people to opt-in to your list or on a special 'members-only' page for your current list to download. It won't look good for your "Credibilty" if you are selling something that can be had for free everywhere else.

One thing to mention here is Private Label Rights (PLR) products. Many people only deal with PLR products because they allow you to make the product as your own. In other words, you can become the author of the product and resell it as your own. A little work in creating a new cover, some rewriting to make it unique and BOOM, you have your own product unlike anyone else.

Just Get Started
Don't feel you need to know everything before you get your business online. The biggest mistake most make is trying to learn all the tech stuff before they put up a website. It isn't that big of a deal anymore. Free website templates are easy to get, most good quality hosting companies provide ready to use templates and tools you can use to create a unique website and you don't need to learn HTML code to do so. Although, you should learn the basics so you can quickly add/change a web page, put in a clickable link or add a graphic and place your autoresponder code to get subscribers. All very easy to do. You will be constantly learning as time goes on, so why wait? You'll never know it all anyway, nobody does, that is why there is such a thing called Outsourcing, and why the big boys hire a staff once their business takes off. You simply can't know it all or do it all.
Your Business Is FIRST.
Forget the time-wasters until you do your work. That means, leave your e-mail alone, don't play mindless 'pac man' games all day, don't worry about your Tweets, MySpace junk or other social media stuff and forget about click for hits or points etc. Those things can wait, your website needs your attention first. Never Give Up
It may take a year, or 2 or 3 or even more before you find any real success online. If you quit, you never will make it. Have and write out a plan on what you want to accomplish. Make goals and stick with them. Define what you want to end up with. Is it to make your living online, just make a little extra money or become a rich and famous internet tycoon? Any one of those 3 is possible, it's all up to you and how much you want it.
