Yes, it's getting late, went out to eat with
a couple old friends so am running behind.

'old days' and time gets away.

Actually I've been building another site. Not
quite finished yet, there are a couple of the
reviews not done, but it's also something you
could try your hand at.
It's selling web hosting, a top 10 listing with
short reviews of each company. Yeah, it's not a
new concept and has some competition but it's
pretty passive income except for advertising
the site once it's set up and ready for that.
Check it out and let me know if you find any
bad links (other than the last couple reviews
pages) and use it as an example of something
you can build yourself. Don't copy it, of course,
that's a no-no for any website, but the idea
is there, and I used hosting companies found
through Commission Junction. It's a great
place to find products etc., sort of like
using Clickbank products as an affiliate.
Pick what you wish to promote and usually you
are given the tools, banners and such to use
by the product you wish to promote.
Commission Junction is found here and you'll want
to sign up as a PUBLISHER unless you have your own
product, and it's free. If you aren't using CJ,
you are missing out on a lot of extra $$$.
I am being very blunt. This has been tested for 9 solid months.
It has been tweaked, changed, and beaten the living tar out of
it until It produced the results you will see in the videos.
Get started right away with your affiliate link, and drive as many
people to signup as you can, and a week from today, you can be
earning a passive income.

SEO And Traffic Basics For Your Business
(Keyword Density and How to Find the Best Keywords)

In the last newsletter an overview of Search Engine Optimization,
what it is and how search engines work was covered.
Now, lets go over the importance of Keyword Density and finding
those mysterious Keywords.
Keyword density is an indicator of the number of times the selected
keyword appears on a web page. Keywords should not be over used,
but should be just sufficient enough to appear at important places.
If you repeat your keywords with every other word on every line,
your site will probably be rejected as a possible spam site, that
is definately what you do not want.
Keyword density is always expressed as a percentage of the total
word content on a given web page.
Suppose you have 100 words on your webpage (not including HMTL
code used for writing the web page), and you use a certain keyword
for five times in the content.
The keyword density on that page is obtained by simply dividing the
total number of keywords by the total number of words that appear
on your web page.
In the above example it is 5 divided by 100 = .05. Because keyword
density is a percentage of the total word count on the page, multiply
the above by 100 to get result in terms of percentage,
ie 0.05 x 100 = 5%
The accepted standard for a keyword density is between 3% and 5%
to get recognized by the search engines and this rule applies to every page on your site.
However, while you should always to try to aim for a keyword density
between 3% and 5%, this is only a rule of thumb and there may be
occassions where more than 5% is acceptable.
Only trial and error will determine what works best for your pages.
Here are some simple steps to check the density of your content:
- Copy and paste the content from an individual web page
into a word-processing software program, such as Word or
something similar.
- Go to the 'Edit' menu and click 'Select All'. Now go to
the 'Tools' menu and select 'Word Count'. Write down the
total number of words in the page.
- Now select the 'Find' function on the 'Edit' menu. Go to
the 'Replace' tab and type in the keyword you want to find.
Replace that word with the same word, so you don't change
the text.
- When you complete the replace function, the system will
provide a count of the words you replaced. That gives the
number of times you have used the keyword in that page.
- Using the total word count for the page and the total
number of keywords you can now calculate the keyword
density.
To achieve the best results it is important to have the first 250
words of your copy keyword rich.
A good tip is to write your content about your chosen topic first, then choose your keywords and/or keyword phrases from the content.
Then rewrite your content as needed, adding keywords and/or keyword
phrases that pertain to the theme of the content.
This way you've chosen keywords and/or keyword phrases that are
relevant to your content, instead of trying to write content to fit
your keywords and/or keyword phrases.
Remember to not include your HTML code in your word count, and by
keeping your keywords to the right proportion of your content the
search engines will be happy and keep your site/content listed.
OK, lets move on to How to Find the Best Keywords!
At this point we will go over keyword research and the tools that
you can use to find the best keywords and phrases.
When you are doing your keyword research try to choose keywords
that are frequently searched for and are in high demand, but not
being used by too many other websites and competitors.
Keyword research can be broken down into a three step process.
The first step is the discovery phase. In this step you want to
focus on identifying as many keywords or phrases as possible.
Initially you need to sit down and make a list of keywords or
keyword phrases that describe the topic of your website.
You can do this by jotting down descriptive words that come to mind,
and by using your dictionary. At this point include every word or
phrase that you can think of.
To help make this job much easier there are several keyword tools that
are available to help you generate a keyword list. Some of these tools
are free, like www.GoodKeywords.com and Google's Adwords Tool while
others are fee based.
With these tools you will be able to generate hundreds of keyword phrases quickly and easily.
I prefer using KeywordSpy.com and the Google Keyword Tool. They free
tools that generate potential keywords, as well as allowing you to analyze
statistics, including search performance, seasonal trends and in the case
of KeywordSpy, what your competitors are using.
- Sorting the results of your desired keyword search by
popularity, past performance history within the AdWords
system, cost, and predicted ad position.
- Easy keyword manipulation where you can select a few
keywords here and there or add them all at once.
- Searches for keywords present even in any webpage URL
specified by your search. It can also expand your keyword
search even further to include those pages that are
linked to or from the original URL page.
- More keyword results are generated based on regularly
updated usage statistics database. This helps you to get
new keywords or phrases.
It also provides you with tips on how to use the tool to get the best results so that you can easily narrow down your final selection of
keyword phases.
Of course, there are many more options available besides the Google
Keyword Tool. Below is a quick list of some that you can try out.
Ultimately, which tool you decide to use is completely up to you.
I suggest you test a few before you make your final decision to find
one that works best for you.
No way could I list them all, and while I don't see the need to spend
any money on purchasing a tool and I stay away from any download
tools that may cookie my computer and follow places I visit, which
happens way more than you realize. Generally speaking any free web
tool will do all you need. What is important, especially if you are
using PPC, is to monitor your keywords, check your websites logs
for visits and tweak your keywords to draw more clicks to your site.
Keywords amd keyword phrases change as far as what people use to
look for your specific content/information. New buzz words get used,
new phrases or terms to describe things change, like from 'cool'
and 'hip' to 'rad' to 'awesome' etc., and differs between age groups
and even what part of the world you live.
Nothings stands still and neither should you.
Next issue will cover submitting your website to the search engines
and the importance of your referrer logs.
